Cynthia R. Carter, M.S., LMFTA
 
Cynthia earned a Master of Science in Psychology, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy, from the Our Lady of the Lake University. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (with a minor in African-American Studies) from the University of Houston. Cynthia is a member of the National Honor Society in Psychology and the America Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
 
Cynthia has been extensively involved with at-risk children, adolescents and families since 1992 through her work at Joseph Pfeifer Kiwanis Camp (Little Rock, AR), Arkansas Department of Education and Montgomery County Youth Services (Conroe, TX). She has also worked with adults and couples during her tenure at the Houston Galveston Institute. Cynthia’s professional experiences include mentoring and coaching, individual and family therapy, and facilitating groups. She is competent to work with a wide variety of client issues such as: mood disorders (i.e. depression, anxiety etc.), disruptive behaviors, grief/loss, academic problems, identity problems, religious/spiritual problems, self-injury, peer and school problems, self-esteem, coping/life skills and anger management.
 
Cynthia recognizes that life offers many different challenges. She helps to empower clients to work through difficult circumstances and live life successfully by building solutions that utilize their own strengths and resources.
