Groups for Teens

FROM CHILDHOOD INTO ADOLESCENCE
(ages 12-14)

Day: Wednesday evenings; First group date July 13th

Time: 6:00pm

Who: Teens ages 12-14.  A one hour individual/family assessment is required to screen for group fit.

Group Fee: $30.00/one hour group meeting

Group Therapist: Catalina Prebisch, M.Ed., LPC-Intern

Description: This group creates a space for younger teens who are in the process of figuring out who they are as they move from childhood into adolescence. The group experience offers a supportive and therapeutic environment to talk about their challenges and concerns. An additional benefit is the possibility of feedback from multiple perspectives and the opportunity to support other teens on their personal journeys.

This group is beneficial for teens who show signs of low self-esteem or self-worth, feeling misunderstood, confused, anxious, rejected, among other emotional and behavioral distresses and would benefit from a network of peer support.

How it works: Before joining the group, the teen and guardian will meet with the therapist in a pre-group session to answer questions and become familiar with each other. During group sessions the group members are invited to share their struggles, listen as other members describe their challenges, and join together to find new meanings and possibilities allowing for growth and change.
